Douglas Clark was born in Ventura, California, USA. His childhood curiosity about mechanical and electrical objects led him to study electrical engineering and materials science at Stanford University (BS, MS, PhD) and Carnegie-Mellon (MSEE) Universities. Working at major, worldwide companies, he designed medical ultrasound and x-ray imaging systems and state-of-the-art imaging and printing systems. These work experiences formed the basis for his own company, Paedia Corporation, in 1985, and a sister company, Paedia LLC, in 2004. For over 30 years, Paedia Corporation provided consulting services and sales to life science, printing, and imaging clients. For 15 years, Paedia LLC developed its own proprietary products for licensing to other organizations.

Doug has utilized his career experiences and know-how to produce beautiful, high resolution, high quality photographic images and prints of subjects rarely seen or noticed by a casual viewer. These images include micro and macro stills and videos of stomata, the tiny breathing pores of plants, insects of all kinds, x-rays of plants, and even colorful chemical reactions. He gets great joy from sharing these images with others and hearing their reactions to the beauty they see.
